Your Data Control Rights

At Maat Journal, we believe you should have complete control over your personal data. This page explains how you can manage, export, reset, or delete your account and data within our application.

We provide multiple options to ensure you can make informed decisions about your data while maintaining the privacy and security of your journal entries.

Export Your Data

Before making any changes to your account, we strongly recommend exporting your data to ensure you have a complete backup of your journal entries and personal information.

Backup & Restore Feature

Access this feature through the top menu in your Maat Journal app:

  • Navigate to the top menu in the app
  • Select "Backup and Restore"
  • Choose "Export Data" to download a complete JSON file
  • This file contains all your journal entries and app data

Important: Always save your recovery phrase separately, as it's your master key for accessing your encrypted data.

Reset Your Data

The "Reset User Data" option allows you to clear all your journal entries, progress, and reset your secret recovery phrase while keeping your account and login credentials intact.

What Gets Reset

  • All journal entries and their content
  • Mood tracking data and patterns
  • AI support insights and progress
  • App preferences and progress
  • Voice recording history
  • Your recovery phrase (a new one will be generated)

What Stays Intact

  • Your account login credentials
  • Your subscription status (if applicable)
